Cannon Uni-Troll 10 details:
Cannon Uni-Troll 10 is the best line of manual downriggers and the model that I have here is the Cannon Uni-Troll 10 A couple of the key features about this is number one, the retrieve rate is incredibly fast and efficient.
This has a two to one retrieve rate which means every time I crank the handle I’m retrieving two feet of cables. Now for anyone who’s ever fished with a Cannon downrigger, especially a manual Cannon downrigger knows that when you get a strike it’s incredibly important to get your cable and your weight out of the water as quickly as possible so that it doesn’t interfere with your fishing line.
So with the Cannon Uni-Troll 10 all I have to do is turn the crank candle every time I turn it it retrieves two feet of line gets the weight and the cable out of the water as quickly as possible. The next thing I want to talk to you about is our deploy mechanism We have a one-hand clutch deploy mechanism.
This means that I can drop the way down to an exact depth be very accurate and still only use one hand so I can be controlling my tackle with my other hand. So if I have my tackle in my left, I can just back off on the clutch a little bit and slowly drop my downrigger weight down to an exact depth.
I’m looking at my fish finder. I’m seeing exactly where the fish are suspended and with one hand. I can drop my downrigger weight down exactly to that depth really target those suspended fish. A couple of the other key features. I want to talk about are number one, we have an ergonomic crank handle very true to the hand.
Doesn’t slip very comfortable to hold. We also have dual axis rod holders. This means that I can adjust the rod holder or front to back as well as side to side. So it really allows me to dial in where my fishing line is relative to my Cannon downrigger cable help avoid tangles.
The Cannon Uni-Troll 10 also comes with a 360 degree swivel base. So now I can turn my Cannon downrigger 360 degrees really allow me to optimize my spread and cover as much water as possible and still avoid tangles. A couple of the other key features are we have a 360 degree swivel boom end It helps avoid the line from jumping off the cables We also have a universal mounting base.
So now we use the same mounting based on our manual Cannon downriggers that we use on our electric Cannon downriggers. And what this means is I know a lot of people carry a spare manual Cannon downrigger on their boat just in case something does happen with their electric. If they get a tangle in their cable or something like that, they can just take their electric off slide a manual on and keep fishing for the day, they don’t have to change out mounting bases everything uses the same base.
And then the last thing I want to point out to you on this is just how small and light weight our manual Cannon downriggers are now. We’ve been seeing a trend of of smaller boats going out and using Cannon downriggers. People are setting up their boats for fishing for multiple species.
So now you can add a Cannon Uni-Troll 10 to your boat and you don’t take up a lot of space on the gunnel. It’s a very small footprint lightweight piece of equipment. So all we have to do is simply slide it out of the mounting base. And you can see how small and lightweight this is and then when we’re done all we have to do is slide it back in.
Cannon Uni-Troll 10 – A lot of people tend to think that a Cannon Uni-Troll 10 is only suited for a large boat trolling offshore and a large body of water. When in fact a downrigger can also be an incredibly effective tool for a smaller boat fishing in smaller inland lakes.
Any time you’re targeting a species of fish that’s suspended in the water column, the Cannon Uni-Troll 10 is the perfect tool. For smaller boat setup a manual downrigger is ideal. It’s got a very small footprint, so it doesn’t take up a lot of room on the stern and it’s also very lightweight, so it’s easy to add or remove depending on. If you’re going to use the downrigger or not.
What I want to show you today is the Cannon Uni-Troll 10 model which is the most advanced manual downrigger on the water and I want to show you some of the innovative features that make this such an effective fishing tool. The first thing we have to do when fishing with the downrigger is get our line set and there’s features built into the Cannon Uni-Troll 10 that are designed specifically for this.
For example, we have a dual axis rod holder which allows us to perfectly set our fishing rod. In addition, we have a 360 degree swivel base, which gives us more flexibility for a better trolling spread. We also have an extendable boom which keeps our fishing lines farther away from the side of the boat.
This is incredibly important especially for a smaller boat setup because it allows us to cover more water. Now that our lines are set we can lower the weight. On Cannon Uni-Troll 10, we have what’s called one hand clutch deployed. So with one hand all I have to do is back off on the clutch a little bit.
Cannon Uni-Troll 10 will slowly and precisely lower the weight into the water and I can track the depth on the three-digit depth counter. My other hand I can control my fishing rod in my fishing line Once my bait is set and we’re trolling we have an enclosed boom end which keeps the downrigger cable on the pulley to prevent any accidental line jumping and tangles.
Once we get a strike and we have a fish on it’s incredibly important to get our downrigger cable out of the water as quickly as possible because what we don’t want to have happen is for our fishing line to get tangled with our downrigger cable breaks the fishing line and we lose the fish.
So for that on Cannon Uni-Troll 10, we have what we call two to one retrieve ratio. What that means? Is for every revolution of the handle the spool makes two revolutions. It gets our cable out of the water in half the time. So again for a smaller boat setup a manual downrigger, like our Cannon Uni-Troll 10 is perfect.

Cannon Uni-Troll 10 Reviews:
Cannon was really cool offered to send parts or replace
It came messed up, so I called Cannon tech (it would just free-spin, no clutch), and it was missing two screws on the clutch plate cover.
Cannon was really cool offered to send parts or replace. I took it apart -just was poor assembly =easy fix, bought two new screws for $1.00.
I have been using Penn Fathom Masters all my life, Cannon Uni-troll 10 manuals beat the snott outta em.
The only thing I don’t like is the way the counter slides over plastic gears, it just feels like it’s gonna break.
-If they fixed that I would make love to it.
Great rigger for starting out or the weekend fishing
Purchase one uni 10 last season and work great!!! So much bought another one. I have a 2018 Lund 1875 impact and with both on the Rear their is still room to move around on the rear cast deck. Gave it four stars because Their is a lot of plastic and not sure how they will hold up over time
Good solid rigger
Downrigger works great. A+. Works well on small 14’ in Fingerlakes and Ontario for kings, browns ,Atlantics, lakers, rainbows. Go with swivel mount and cable retrieve.
I would buy them again
This is a quality piece of equipment that so far has performed flawlessly. I have only used them 3-4 times but I would repurchase them again today if
I needed more. Pretty simple to put together and use and if I say that it must be true because my brain is not wired to understand anything mechanical.
