Awesome electric downrigger. Easy use, low power usage, easy adjustments and setup. Highly recommended for anybody.

Very happy with my new downriggers. Well I think I am not used it yet as the fishing season is over now. But have tested them on my boat. Some say that it is a bit fast. But that’s what I need. But think I will be best to lower the ball by just backing off on the clutch.

I love these downriggers. The automatic stop work well, the speed is incredible, and overall operation is simple.

fast and smooth. a great improvement over my old Cannon Marlin downriggers. only complaint is I sometimes grab the circuit breaker instead of the switch when I am to the right of the downrigger.

Great product! It does take a little time to get used to the really fast retrieve, but once you do fishing deep water >40 feet has never been easier. Bought two of them and can’t tell which one I’m using. Would definitely recommend them and I finally got my wife to use a downrigger. She didn’t like to raise a 10 lb weight by hand. I don’t quite understand the technology behind the system that stops the weight at the surface, but it sure works well. The amount of adjustment on the riggers is unbelievable and I frequently use both by myself, while running the trolling motor. If they were a little lighter they would be five stars.

This is a good piece of equipment and does what it’s supposed to.

Great downrigger. Super fast retrieval.

I haven’t used the rigger yet but I have a friend who has 4 of them. Their super

Fastest rigger I’ve owner, faster than my digi-troll IV’s. More time i the water and when encountering a problem on the bottom of the water you can quickly escape danger

I put two of these on my fishing boat. The work really well and are easy to use. Requires a little thought if mounting on a thin wall gunnel.

I’ve downrigger fished all my life; spending the first 23 years running charter boats and have never been more disappointed in a downrigger. This unit has zero speed adjustment and comes up so fast, it will tear your gear loose or tie it in a know around the mainline. Makes it a real pain in the rear to have to reel everything up and reset your gear to make a simple bait check. I had one of the earlier versions of this downrigger that works at the slower speed and it is a super unit, but this bad boy is useless in my opinion. I switched to the Scotty and absolutely LOVE It. I have an older Cannon Mag 10 on the port side and my new Scotty on the Starboard, it’s the one my gear is on.

Solid downrigger

4.0 rating

Quality product. The speed is quick. The swivel is very useful for rigging lines to the clips and for stowing the downrigger while traveling on the road. I fish with it facing out the side of my boat. The ball holder hook is very handy. It will hold a 12 lb ball while running around on the lake with no problem. I have yet to need or use the extended boom. The terminator, which is the piece that changes the end of the stainless cable into a hook to hold the ball, is a little strange. It seems to hold just fine but it takes some work to get the cable in just right so everything will close up. The auto up feature is nice but you have to make sure the battery is grounded to the boat and you are using some type of isolator between the cable and the ball. It comes with a plastic clip to take care of the isolation. It takes getting use to though. I have raised the ball all the way up a few times by accident when all I wanted to do is bring it up a few feet. I don’t understand all of the positive ion control stuff but I checked the unit in the water and had a positive 0.65 volts on my downrigger cable. The line counter is geared into the spool. You slide it away from the spool if you want to adjust it then slide it back into the spool and its locked in. For the money it should come with the second rod holder. Rock solid product.

Nice machine

Works great but the metal telescoping arm that is responsible for ALL the weight has a clip that holds it together made of PLASTIC. First use it broke of course. However it’s an easy fix if you have any mechanical ability at all. That piece is a no brainer to make out of metal. Other than that it’s awesome. Sole use for them is pulling dredges. Heavy stuff but it works

Fast and quiet

The unit is fast and quiet to bring up the weight. Caught eight 30 pound yellow tail at 125 feet

Should have bought them sooner

I’ve been using manual outriggers till now. Wow. What a difference these make. They are quality products.

Retrieve stops at water surface

5.0 rating

Such an improvement over my original Canon mag 10’s. So fast lowering ball, and on retrieve having ball stop at surface is great. Expensive but well worth it. Long term investment, like a good graph.

Good product but could use better QC

4.0 rating

Works well overall. One of the two I ordered was missing a nut in the housing for attaching the rod holder. All the rubber washers on the screws in the housing were over tightened, seriously deforming the washers. Their customer service was easy to work with to get the missing hardware but it was an unnecessary delay.

Great product

There real, a great downrigger. I have 4 and did I say they are real! Yay… never know anymore but I love them. Light weight great for getting up and down fast once you get use to them. Great!

Magnum 10 STX is Awesome!

5.0 rating

Bought 2 magnum 10 STX and they are awesome. The 5 STX doesn’t come with a swivel base that’s why I opted for the 10 STX that come with a swivel base. The weight stops at the water line every time. Fast up and down, you can slow it by using the clutch but I didn’t because it was perfect. I do recommend getting the retro-ease weight retriever or the scotty retriever because reaching over the side of the boat pulling in the 10 lbs weight and keeping control of the weight while hooking your line on the clip get a little frustrating at times. After hand cranking the cannon mini for years it’s nice to be able to hit the switch and not have one buff arm.
